It’s normal to have questions, even if you’ve had treatments before. Many are answered in the FAQs below but feel free to contact us if you still have questions. We’re happy to help!
Laser FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What preparation is required?
There must be a dark hair in the follicle to be lasered, so NO waxing or plucking for 4-6 weeks before your treatment. You can trim, snip or shave up to the day of treatment.
On the day of treatment, avoid deodorants, perfumes, talc and moisturizers with sunscreen.
Q: How many sessions will I require?
A: Each body part typically needs a minimum of 8 – 10 sessions. If you’ve had previous treatments, then that number will vary. Your Skinvisible technician can assess this on a case-by-case basis.
Q: Will it hurt?
A: Treatments often feel like ‘snap’ of a rubber band and the intensity can be adjusted for comfort. Be sure to speak with your Skinvisible technician if you experience any discomfort or pain during treatment.
Q: How much will it cost?
Each treatment plan varies and Skinvisible is constantly offering promotional pricing that helps your wallet as much as your skin. Q: How long does each treatment take?
A: An average treatment takes 5mins – 30 mins. Larger areas can last 45mins – 2hrs (e.g. backs, lower legs, full legs).
Q: Can young girls do this treatment; when is the best time to begin?
A: Skinvisible has an active client base of postpubescent young women (early teens). Please note that hormones are fluctuating during puberty so the results can take longer than expected. Parent consent is required for all minors.
Q: Do you offer full body deals?
A: Skinvisible does not offer full-body deals as each skin type and area of the body is unique. A single, full-body treatment would be a very long session and understandably most clients would overheat. In our many years of experience (since 2006) we have learned that dividing your treatment plan into various zones and areas allow for the best results at minimum cost. Skinvisible packages allow for stacked treatments (e.g. legs and underarms) using a safe and balanced approach.
Q: “Can you do a cash deal?”
A: Sorry, we do not give better deals for cash. Skinvisible does accept most forms of payment, including cash.
Q: Can I have laser while pregnant or breastfeeding?
A: Laser energy can be intense for developing cells, so Skinvisible cannot laser anyone while pregnant. Breastfeeding clients require a doctors note for treatment.
Q: Can I have laser treatments if I have breast implants? (e.g. underarm hair removal)
A: If the breast implant is beneath the chest muscle, then yes! If the implant is just beneath the nipple area, then no. Skinvisible has many other areas we can treat safely and effectively, so be sure to discuss this with your technician.
Q: Will treatment on my face/upper lip hurt my teeth?
A: Quick fix for sensitive teeth or braces: put your tongue between your teeth and the inside of your upper lip and you are good to go! If you experience any discomfort, be sure to tell your technician right away – we can help!
Q: What happens if I have a tan?
A: Skinvisible wants you to experience your best skin, so if you are tanned in the area to be treated you will need to wait a minimum of 4 – 6 weeks for the tan to fade. The best results happen when you are as close to your normal skin tone as possible, whatever that tone is. For clients who visit the south in the winter, we can treat any untanned skin (e.g. Brazilian), but a tanned bikini line might need additional treatments to catch up.
Q: Can I get laser after getting Botox?
A: If your treatment is in the same area recently treated with Botox, then a 2-week waiting time is required. However, if your Botox was in your forehead and your treatment is on your chin, then you are safe to proceed!
Q: Can I laser my eyebrows?
A: Laser is not an accurate shaping tool for eyebrows, so Skinvisible does not laser eyebrows. We do laser the central unibrow portion with great results!
Q: Can I have laser treatments on my face right after a facial treatment?
A: Skinvisible has wonderful facial treatments and chemical peels, but we recommend waiting at least a week (especially if any acids were used) before any laser activity. Not only would one be extra sensitive, but the risk of a burn is increased.
Q: Why can’t I get laser treatments while on antibiotics?
A: Antibiotics have a high photosensitivy potential, so laser treatments are not recommended while taking them. However, the half-life of antibiotics is only a few days so once the course is finished you are welcome to resume treatments. Skinvisible recommends a week to be safe.
Q: “Can I just skip the test spot and get a treatment today after the consultation? I’ve had laser before.”
A: Skinvisible uses only medical-grade Cynosure Elite + equipment so each client must have a test treatment to see how their skin reacts. This benefits the client and gives valuable information to the technician who wants to ensure you have the best skin of your life. This policy is non-negotiable, and we know that any time lost on a test spot will easily be gained with the effectiveness of our equipment and trained staff as your treatments progress.
